Dear Emerson School Community,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful and enjoyable summer. On behalf of the Board of Education and district administration, I am excited to welcome our students, families, faculty, and staff back to Emerson Public Schools.
The staff of Emerson Public Schools remain deeply committed to providing every student with a safe, supportive, and rigorous learning environment where they are challenged to grow, encouraged to explore, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. Our goal is to ensure every Cavo experiences an outstanding education while building the relationships, opportunities, and sense of belonging that make Emerson schools such special places to learn.
We are also pleased to begin the school year with several important facility improvements. At Villano School, renovations to the music classroom, art classroom, and Child Study Team office have been completed. Phase One of the Memorial School roof replacement project has been completed, supporting the long-term safety, functionality, and sustainability of our facilities.
As we prepare for the year ahead, please take a moment to review the enclosed
2026–2027 District Calendar, which includes important dates and information for the school year. Please note that the district will be
closed on
Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day, and Friday, September 11th, in observance of the holiday.
Please be reminded of our
newly enhanced district website, designed to make information more accessible and strengthen communication with our families and community. We encourage you to visit the website regularly for district news, announcements, resources, and upcoming events.
Also enclosed is our
Family Life Curriculum Letter, which provides an overview of the areas of instruction that will be addressed through our comprehensive Physical Education and Health curriculum. We value transparency and partnership with our families and encourage you to review this information and reach out to your child's school with any questions.
Finally, I am pleased to share the
2026–2027 District Goals, recently approved by the Emerson Board of Education. These goals build upon our five-year strategic plan and focus on instructional excellence, meaningful assessment, differentiated learning, student engagement, and the development of the Portrait of an Emerson Graduate.
I am honored to serve as Superintendent of Emerson Public Schools and look forward to working alongside our students, staff, families, and community throughout the year. Together, we will continue to build upon the many strengths of our district and ensure that every Cavo has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
Wishing everyone a safe, successful, and wonderful school year! Go Cavos!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jillian Torrento, Superintendent of Schools
