Good morning Memorial Families,

Last week, our second graders proudly concluded their research unit with an Endangered Animal Fair. Students showcased their learning through creative dioramas, informational pamphlets, and “About the Author” notes that they shared with families and students across the school. It was wonderful to see the students confidently present their hard work and research. We are very proud of their efforts and accomplishments!

On Friday, Memorial School welcomed the Tenafly Nature Center for an in-school field trip experience for our second graders. Students enjoyed learning about live animals including owls, salamanders, and other small creatures that live in and around our local area. The hands-on experience provided an engaging extension to their science learning.

Our third grade students also had an exciting experience during their field trip to the Maritime Aquarium. Students explored exhibits featuring a variety of marine animals while also enjoying special time together with classmates and friends. It was a fun and memorable learning opportunity for all.

Warm regards,
Kristin Gagliano

Third Grade Clap Out

Dear Third Grade Parents,

It feels bittersweet to announce the Third Grade Clap Out!  We will truly miss all of our third graders, but the entire Memorial School community is excited to celebrate their special day with them as they transition to Patrick M. Villano School.

Please note some important information for the event.

Younger students will line the hallways along the path the third graders will take as they walk through and out of the building on June 24th, the last day of school.  After third graders walk through the halls, they will exit the building from door 7 facing the basketball courts.  From there, they will walk along the side of the building and through the balloon arch to the lower blacktop.  Families will meet their students on the lower blacktop.

Please note the following times and procedures during this celebration.

  • The timing for the students to exit the building is as follows:
  • Ms. Reid’s class - 12:25
  • Mrs. Grupenhof’s class- 12:30
  • Ms. Diekhaus’ class - 12:35
  • Mrs. Gammarati’s class - 12:40

  • Parents will meet their child/children on the lower blacktop.  Once your child’s class makes their way down the stairs, please relocate to the middle or outer areas of the blacktop.  This allows for the next group of parents to gather close and clap for their child.

We look forward to celebrating your child!
